| The Bookworm Sez: “Three Lessons for Astair the Bear” great to ...
How many times do you hear your Mom say that each day? She reminds you about something and repeats herself. She says it again. And again. And again. You get the hint finally, but it takes time, right? Well, bears are no different than kids, as youll see in Three Lessons for Astair the Bear by Martin Brennan, illustrated by Amy Huntington. Bears have lots of things to learn, too. One day, for instance, Astair the Bear woke up and decided that he did not care. He walked out of his lair in his underwear, walked downtown and through the fair. Soon Astair smelled something delicious and he decided to grab a chair at a restaurant. He was a hungry bear without a care, but the restaurants owner - a skunk named Claire - told Astair that he needed to put on some clothes! Well, Astair got angry.
Israeli Oppression in Hebron
Cabinet ministers supported them, and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) gave them weapons and trained them in their use. Six months later, the Hebron and Gush Etzion Ministerial Committee officially approved establishing a Jewish neighborhood in the city, and it was all downhill from there. In March 1970, the Knesset established the Qiryat settlement that in a few years had hundreds of Jewish-only housing units. The big settlement push came 10 years later in 1980 when the government built a yeshiva (Orthodox school) structure in the City Center by adding a floor to the Beit Hadassah settlement for the purpose. More activity came in 1984 when Jewish families established a settlement in the Palestinian Tel Rumeida neighborhood. From then on, others grew to where a few hundred Jews now live in a number of Old City locations, mainly in or around what used to be the city's commercial area.
New Year Sprint deserves pride of place, says Walker
More amateurs should do it – it taught me how to relax and chase, and Dave was great at getting you at your peak at the right time."The prospects of this year's back-marker Craig Fleming (Glasgow) lifting the £4000 first prize tomorrow are no better.Off 2.5m, Fleming is in a tough heat 10 where he faces former winner Dave Lauder (Hawick 9.5m), Dave Gilmour (East Kilbride 9.5m), who was a close second to Lauder five years ago, capital flyer Ewan McCombie (7.75m) and Hawick's David Rae (8.5m), who also trains possible favourite Iskan Barskanmay (Hawick 9.75m).By contrast Tony Bowman (Leeds), the 72-year-old with the penchant for partying, has scored a British Masters title triumph since his victory last year from a mark of 28.5 metres and no-one is ruling out his chances of becoming the first to repeat since Glasgow's Willie McFarlane in 1933-34.
